Nikon, Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Lens Review

This 24-70mm f/2.8 lens is very suited as a general purpose zoom lens for people and landscape photography. It has a 2.9 time zoom range with nine rounded diaphragm blades to give an excellent bokeh for the out of focus areas. This lens is extremely sharp.

There is a M/A mode to enables instant switching from autofocus to manual focus.

Nikon provide a range of f/2.8 lenses, 14-24mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm to cover a very wide range of focal lengths in three lenses.

This lens is environmentally sealed with a rubber gasket to the rear to stop the introduction of dirt and moisture. With this lens levels of distortion are very low and you can shoot architecture with this zoom lens.

The lens handles back light conditions much better than other lenses and flare and ghosting are never issues. Very sharp images are obtained over the complete focal length range of this lens, contrast is good with negligible corner softness.

This lens is the mid range zoom by which all others are judged.
